All Time Favourite Pink Floyd Track?
Same criteria as The Beatles thread.
I am hoping this has'nt been done before. I will make an official thread when all the nominations are in ONE MONTH from today. Choose your track and explain why you chose it. I will then compile a MB top ten poll and use the best appraisals for each song in the top ten. GO. Voted: Dogs - 5 See Emily Play - 4 Echoes - 1 Interstellar Overdrive - 1 Welcome To The Machine - 1 Comfortably Numb - 2 Wish You Were Here - 5 Us & Them - 2 Time - 2 Pigs (Three Different Ones) - 1 Astronomy Domine - 1 Pow R. Toc H - 1 The Great Gig In The Sky - 1 Breathe - 1 Learning To Fly - 1 Bike - 1 Any Colour you like - 4 The Fletcher Memorial Home - 1

'Dogs' from 'Animals' because I could not imagine life without ever hearing it again. I don't think I could cope

If 'Dogs' was'nt so ingrained on my psyche (it has been there for 20 years) then a Syd era track would almost certainly be my choice.

Damn I love both of those songs a ton. Dogs is definitly my favorite 'Animals' track, the intense and sarcastic Water's lyrics along with Gilmour's best soloing (maybe). The climax at the end is amazing, the last minute or so of the song.
And I really get the Peter Pan appeal, it is an awesome feeling in Barrett's music. Wayne Coyne and Robert Hitchcock put it best in this interview: Quote:
It's a nice quick read, especially if you like both the Flaming Lips and Barrett. But ultimately my favorite song is Interstellar Overdrive. It didn't used to be my favorite Floyd song, but overtime the essence and crazyness of the song just captivated me. Amazing piece of work. My second favorite would probably be 'See Emily Play' or 'Matilda Mother', love the lyrics and passion put into the singing. |

Robyn Hith**** must have been majorly influenced by Barrett. At times he sounds a LOT like him.
