I voted for ATDI, but I'm already reconsidering my choice. **** it, they're both good.
|
At the Drive-In, definitely.
|
At the Drive-In and TMV are great bands, but before Relationship of Command ATDI weren't nearly as good. TMV has been consistently amazing through all of their albums, so i vote TMV.
I've listened to Relationship of Command more than any TMV album though, but at the same time, in general i listen to TMV more... I guess it's just a matter of whether you enjoy hardcore or prog more...and I like prog more so that's my vote. |
I'm listening to At The Drive In at the moment and I have to say there far easier to listen to the The Mars Volta. The Mars Volta are good too but alot of their songs just go on and on.

But yes, you're right. Relationship Of Command feels like the album that they were destined to make, same thing with Refused and The Shape Of Punk To Come. |
I voted Mars Volta. I really like both, but De-Loused, Frances, and Bedlam are excellent. Amputechture is great too.
|
I voted ATDI. Mars Volta have been more consistent throughout their career, but ROC is one of my favourite albums of all time, I think I've listened too it over 100 times, never gets old.

Mars Volta hands down. Amputechture>everything else.

My band decided to do a cover of Roulette Dares. I can't tell you how fun that song is to play. When everyone clicks together...oh man, there is just so much energy.
I guess to answer the thread's question I prefer the Mars Volta. I only got into At the Drive In because of the Mars Volta, honestly. Deloused pretty much changed my life. On a side note, I always found the differences between Sparta and the Mars Volta to be really interesting. It really does feel like an even split of talents from ATDI. The experimental progressive side went into TMV while the raw energy side went to Sparta. Listening to ATDI now, I can clearly pick out who probably came up with what part. |
