how did rock change your life?

i'm curious..cause rock changed my life a lot...in a good way..
it influenced my opinions about other people and it made me more confident;
i think everybody agrees that rock is more than just music

Oi_To_The_World 11-20-2004 03:04 PM

i dont let things change my life

so youre saying that you dont let music change you? you cant feel good about listening to an incredible song and you dont care whether you listen to RATM or Britney Spears?
It must have changed something! for me it let me think more freely, and I got better at listening to other people, and letting others have their own opinion.

If you cant see what rock has done to the world, I suggest removing that paper bag you obviously have on your head..

Sneer 11-21-2004 08:46 AM

Rock helps you deal with stuff, it gives you advice lyrically and a catharsis musically. it also gives you identity and more confidence. its certainly more than just music- its therapy, history and a way of life. it rules.

Pit-Bull84 11-21-2004 09:03 AM

So Rock made you more respectable towards others opinions?

But then when someone has an opinion you disagree with you do this:

That sounds a little contradicting.

umm, its not exactly something you can control, things change your life weather you like it or not.

blackTshirt 11-21-2004 11:24 PM

i don't think i'm more special than my other classmates but maybe i am...cause i became more open minded...and rock helped me a lot...it is one of the things that make me unique in the crowd of chicks from my highschool (they listen to usher...). i'm definitely not like them. plus..they look at me in a weird way..."how can you not like usher??" and "how can you wear black all the time?" in my case, rock changed A LOT

AmyLeeFan 12-02-2004 11:19 PM

Before rock found me, I was confused. I didn't have a type of music that I liked, I sat in my room listening to rap and pop (I still have leftover CDs from back then.) But, one day I fliped some channels and came to a station that played some of my favorite rock songs from the '90s that I forgot all about. I was hooked. I've been bolder ever since! Rock is all about real music. That is all.

Ive got the same story.

franscar 12-03-2004 10:04 AM

I met my ex through it, I made a ton of friends through music and it eventually gave me a living, so yeah, music's been pretty important to me.

WeIRd lIl MosHeR FrEak 12-03-2004 10:05 AM

rock made me more, im not sure how to put it, expressive, more confident and made me realise that im entitled to my own opinion

welll i guess i can reiterate and say that i dont let music change my life. i cant think of an instance where it has. i love music just as much as the next guy, but im not sure if any song or artist has steered my life in a certain direction.

Raine 12-03-2004 08:04 PM

I don't thik rock changed my life too much.
I was about 6 the first time i heard Pink Floyd. So even if rock has changed my life I would have been too young to accurately remember how it changed my life. But I notice now that I'm older, that I have a tendency to be a lot more calmer when i'm listening to stuff like Pink Floyd. And if I'm angry or sad about something I usually don't feel as sad or mad as I did before I listened to it.
But I get the same with all other kinds of music too I think. This isn't too accurate. I'm pretty sure I can come up with something better than that.

At any rate, I guess rock music (and other kinds of music too) inspires me to continue and go on with life. My theory is this:
If there is so much talent, and bright ideas to be found in the world today I wouldn't wanna go out and kill myself or something like that. If I did, I'd miss out on all the later and newer inventions in rock that I would have been alive for had I not killed myself. So I guess in a way rock music does give me the inspiration and motivation necessary for me to continue on with my life.

I hope at least some of that made some sense.

blackTshirt 12-04-2004 07:59 AM

yes, it makes so much sense
this is the way i see it too; it really makes you go on and stop thinking about giving up; music helps a lot and there's a talent in each one of us...we make it stronger and more powerful when we listen to the music we like (excuse the so many "we"s in the last sentence)

Sneer 12-05-2004 12:40 PM

just get high and listen to psychedelia guys, it makes you feel much better. i see what your saying though, if you feel like ending it all (which lets face it, every one of us teens do sometimes, i certainly have) rock contains messages that we can relate to. plus if you love a band, why would you want to miss out on the future material?

makes total f***ing sense.

I sound so much smarter and a little bit more intelligent and undertsandable when I have my sugar.
I feel like crying.
I love music more than I love nutter butters. But this is an outrage. My freaking Cd player is busted and the music I'm hearing inside my head is freaking nickelback.
Wait I think my headphones ar ejust broken though.
But that's besides teh point. What is life without nutter butters? what is a nutter butter without a life form to eat it?
I know I'm being over dramatic about this but I'm having another mood swing and I am entitled to my eccntricities.

And if I kill myself now over this (which I'm not gonna do) I'd miss out on all the future good ness in the music world. heck I'd even miss throwing darts at my pearl jam and britney spears posters.

I need a damn nutter butter.
My life is meaningless if I can't think and say intelligent things and make asses out of other people. In order to do that I need to eat nutter butters. if I haven't had a nutter butter in three days now.

I am basically on teh fritz right now. The verge on insanity although I was never really sane anyways.

But you get the idea. And you wanna know something else?
I die my hair with kool aid.
That was pretty random

dog 12-07-2004 04:45 AM

yea rock influenced me to keep going with music and stuff, - bands ect.

the last one 12-08-2004 12:28 PM

yeah, what are nutter butters? it sounds like they are taking over your life. back to the subject, yeah rock changed me. maybe not my life, but my attitude and way of living life. when i heard rock music for the first time, i thought "i want to do this one day".
rock music is great. it's there for you when you're pissed off and it's raw, alive and inspiring (well some is).
I have met a lot of people through rock music, and learnt a lot as well.

ish 12-17-2004 07:44 AM

rock has had a great influence on my life, i mean i was once a dope smoking junky who listened to rap all day....F*CK THAT SH*T....now i am a dope smoking junky who listens to metal LOL nah but i've realised wat i was b4 wasnt good for me...now i have proper music to let it all out

Metal_Head 01-17-2005 06:20 PM

well if it wasnt for rock (in rock, i mean AFI and Atreyu), i would still be constantly listening to rap and hip-hop... i thank AFI, Atreyu, Green Day, and Thrice.

CrAzyBeAuTiFul 01-17-2005 06:24 PM

Damn lookiin at these forums alot of ppl that listen to rock use to listen to rap

Metal_Head 01-17-2005 06:27 PM

thats cuz when ur in elementary, everyone thinks its the coolest... then when you hit 7th or 8th grade, some rock band comes into your life that makes you grow out of rap... unfortunately some kids stick with there rapness because they force emselves to never listen to anything guitar-ish... which is really stupid.

CrAzyBeAuTiFul 01-17-2005 06:34 PM

b-cuz gangsta r kool right :pimp: :bringit:

oookay...i think i missed something here...

Mixin 01-21-2005 04:25 PM

people like you all piss me off. its your fault we have such high censorship
"people letting music change their lives" you know one of changing your life:
shooting up a high school with fully automatic weapons, make your own pipe bombs and kill everyone then go and say marylin ****ing manson changed your life
the lyrics in rock music isnt about "tolerance" or "changing your life for the better"
if u listen to the lyrics its all about getting stoned drunk or telling how much u hate people and if u get into the metal which isnt far off by the way, you get into satanism, slaughter and lyrics like "**** your god"
r u guys catching on yet or let it warp your fragile little minds
you guys talk a lot of ****

Urban Hat€monger ? 01-21-2005 04:30 PM

How as rock music changed my life?

Girls want to talk to you more when you tell them you own around 2000 albums

Now I haven't noticed that at all....

Sweet Jane 01-21-2005 05:41 PM

And seriously, how has it changed my life? In much the same way as literature, and to a lesser extent art, has - it has made me more expressive, more creative, and more passionate a person. Gets me through anything, and keeps me sane. (relatively)

ok, i understand what you're saying, but i don't agree. I'm not saying i listen to a song and jump out the window if it says that i should. it's not at all about that. and rock did change my life in a good way and not only because of some songs' messages, but because like SweetJane said, it makes people more creative, because IT IS ART!! and i agree with the part when some people sing sh*t only because it says so in the song they like, but that's their problem, it's their f*cking life and i don't give a sh*t. people like you, accusing others without knowing them, are the ones they're wrong, you are a bit closed-minded coming here and telling us that, don't you think we know that? don't you think we read that in the newspaper and hear it on the news everyday?? you must think you're so smart saying that stuff.
AND I WASN'T TALKING ABOUT CHANGING LIKE KILLING PEOPLE, I WAS TALKING ABOUT CHANGING, LIKE CHANGING THE STYLE OR i dunno, GOING TO SEE SHOWS MORE OFTEN!!
