although it's not popular, i would definitely vote for dio. the music has way more energy, and i think he is a better singer than ozzy. alot of ozzy's stuff after sabbath is riddled with pitch corrections. watch an un-edited live video of ozzy. he can't sing very well, and has the stage presence of a tree.
dio, on the other hand, owns the stage from the moment he brings his little self on to it. |

I would estimate that 90% of people who are really into Heavy Metal & dont like Dio's voice/brand him as complete **** etc either a) have a pessimistic view based on knowledge of popular opinions. b) havent actually listened with a clear mind (unbiasedly) to him singing. I can accept that people just dont like his voice due to personal taste but I feel most of it is just because he isnt the original singer and they have pessimistic views towards him already before theyve even heard him singing. |

As I said before- I much prefer Ozzy-era Sabbath. However the albums with Dio were still very very good. How can any Metal fan not love 'Falling Off The Edge Of The World'?

I would class it as 'awful junk' though. I dont mind it but it ranks lower than most other Sabbath albums. To me Ian Gillan (as much as I love Deep Purple & he is a cracking vocalist) he just isnt suited to Black Sabbath. |
