power metal, anyone? (rock, album, quote, band, songs)

So I was browsing Pandora.com and eventually I ran into DragonForce. I like them. I wiki'd them. I read some more. I found similar bands through Wikipedia and through Pandora.

Here are some of my notes:
1. Edguy sounds v. similar to DF. I don't like them however.
2. I don't like ConcertoMoon, Labyrinth, ...
3. Elvenking sounds a lot like Kamelot - I like neither. (Folk Music?! Violin?!)
4. I don't like DF's "Trail of Broken Hearts"
5a. I found Inhuman Rampage. I am still researching it.
5b. I did like DF's "Revolution DeathSquad"
6. I don't think I like lyrics/singing so much as I enjoy listening to guitars.
7. So far, I am indifferent to Metallica, Slayer, and I'm guessing Anthrax as well since they form the Big 4 of Thrash.

OK, so I haven't done a thorough research of all of their works (and the other bands I listed).

I am still looking at Helloween as well.

Where should I go next? Can anyone suggest any bands?

I am looking for instrumental power metal in other words. I've found Gamma Ray's Karaoke edition (lyric-less) album but I am having a tough time getting hold of it through eBay, Amazon, ... whatever.

Why don't you just get a non-insturmental and tune the singing out using your mind. Then you won't have to go looking that much.

hey i noticed you said you didnt like kamelot =(

try listening to their album "the black halo" you MIGHT change your mind.
i prefer it to a lot of their other work, and sounds different to me.

That's silly. Why don't you listen to music from The Killers so that you can avoid listening to Duran Duran? Just blank out on their lyrics and singing and listen to the synth and pretend they're something greater than they actually are. Why don't you listen to DJ Mystik with the stupid lyrics and tune those out so you can enjoy the background noise? Or how about this - go listen to The Smashing Pumpkins and tune out the lead singer's vocals and try to enjoy the background music? It's foolish especially when someone is growling out lyrics about epic battles and dragons.

Isn't music about searching for different sounds and constructions that fit your preferences over time? For whatever genres etc? If not, then you're missing out on a lot.

I don't do it. I was just giving a idea. I listen to all kinds of music from Ambient to Death Metal. And I don't feell all music should fit your tastes. Music should keep getting better as time goes on and many musical artists fail to do so.

Since you're looking for instrumental stuff I'll redirect you to look into some neoclassical and shred material. Maybe some Steve Vai would be more to your tastes?

www.myspace.com/soulsource This band is the closest sounding to Dragonforce than any other band.

There are some instrumentals done by Dark Empire and Cellador.

If you want to be into power metal you must like Helloween so it is good that you are looking into them, their best albums are their first three, Walls of Jericho, Keeper of the Seven Keys Part I and Part II.

I am pretty sure Berliner Philharmoniker is a classical artist, not a power metal band.

Some other bands worth looking into IMO are Rhapsody (of Fire), Blind Guardian (their older albums), Iced Earth, Iron Savior, and Savage Circus.
