Greatest Riffs Ever
Lock this shit up if ya thank I ain't fuckin' looked already. I tried, muthafucka. I tried.
What, in yer humblest opinion, is the greatest guitar riff ever? I don' mean most recognizable or the most groin-grabbingly overplayed. I mean fun, catchy, awesome, whatever gets your head shakin' (or your booty, if ya swing that way). No off-limits. I'm kinda attracted to Grandaddy's "The Crystal Lake." Kinda reminds me of Radiohead's "Airbag" (both in sound...and the fact that it isn't beaten into the back of yoursskull bytheend of the song). |
this. Every riff in this song qualifies as the best riff ever.
|
Have You Forgotten is a great, memorable riff that also has the virtue of being unintrusive.
|
Carcass- Corporal Jigsore Quandary (main riff)
Artillery- Khomaniac (opening riff) Cryptopsy- Slit Your Guts (main riff) Ensiferum- Guardians of Fate (main riff) Entombed- Sinner Bleed (Opening Riff) The Faceless- Leica (ending riff) Iced Earth- Stormrider (entire song) |
It takes 1 min 40 for the riff to kick in but it is worth it:
Urbs will hate me for this (sorry): One minute 15 in. One of the finest Metal riffs laid down: Any boxer entering an arena with this would win hands down: |
Ummm I dun know if these are the best of all time, but they're the first ones that popped into my head.
Iron Man... simple but God I love it... System Of A Down - B.Y.O.B. Obviously. Last Resort... by Papa Roach. Not my favorite band in the world. But the riff is just OMG. Disturbed. Down With The Sickness. Like it a lot. There's more I know... but I'm half asleep at the moment so =\ |

I like that kid. Mine would be... Can Ya Hear Me Knockin'? - Stones I could say some more but they'd basically be a copycat of Bub's post. So I'll say a bit about Can Ya Hear Me Knockin'... it is said, that after the first solo in this song, that Mick and all the others put down their microphones and instruments and were done with the song, but Keef just kept on playing, and they decided to use it in the song. You can't say that Keef's the best in the world, you just can't, I mean, he's not even lefthanded, but despite that... jesus, the bum's got some skill. |
Havent seen this posted yet.
Don't Fear The Reaper-Blue Oyster Cult Another I personally really like is Banger & Mash |
It's astounding how many awesome things you find in weird places. A psych pop riff that reminds me of Sabbath? Hell yes at 0:35.
