read the wiki on mayhem for more. pretty interesting.

Hmmm I remebered the pic being more gruesome, not that bad really. But the stuff on Mayhem is really crazy stuff.

With Dead as vocalist, the band's concerts became notorious. Whilst performing, Dead would often cut himself with hunting knives and broken glass. He carried around a dead crow in a jar, which he would smell in order to sing "with the stench of death in his nostrils." Additionally, the band often had pig or sheep heads impaled on stakes and planted at the front of their stage.

At some point in 1990, the members of Mayhem moved to "an old house in the forest" near Oslo. They began writing songs for their next album, De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas. On 8 April 1991, Dead committed suicide in the house owned by the band. He was found by Euronymous with slit wrists and a shotgun round to the head. Dead's suicide note read "Excuse all the blood" and included an apology for firing the weapon indoors. Instead of calling the police, Euronymous went to a nearby store and bought a disposable camera to photograph the corpse, after re-arranging some items. One of these photographs was later stolen and used as the cover of a bootleg live album entitled Dawn of the Black Hearts.
Quote:

Eventually, rumours surfaced that Euronymous made a stew with pieces of Dead's brain, and made necklaces with fragments of Dead's skull. The band later stated that the former rumour was false, but that the latter was true. Additionally, Euronymous claimed to have given these necklaces to musicians he deemed worthy.

Sorry. I know if it were actually true it would be as funny as Sonny Bono hitting a tree.

Yeah, like she wasn't miserable enough in life people still had to make fun of her in death.

What about Spinal Taps drummer who Spontaneously Combusted on stage!!!

Alfred 07-21-2008 02:49 PM

That's black metal for you. They take it way beyond music making.

Sid Vicious

died at the age of 21 after killing his girlfriend

rock n roll

Yeah but is the Mayhem album any good? Talk about a cool cover painting over a crap album. The whole Black Metal thing in Scandanavia is so earnest it almost becomes parody.

Actually, it's happened to plenty of Spinal Tap members. (Actually, just the drummers).

Quote:

John "Stumpy" Pepys (1964-1967) Died in a bizarre, unexplained gardening accident.
Eric "Stumpy Joe" Childs (1967-1974) Choked on vomit of unknown origin.
Peter "James" Bond (1974-1977) Spontaneously combusted onstage.
Mick Shrimpton (1977-1982) Onstage explosion
Joe "Mama" Besser (1982) Quit the band, claiming he "couldn't take this 4/4 ****"; according to an MTV interview with Spinal Tap in November 1991, he disappeared under mysterious circumstances.
Gary Wallis, Jody Linscott (Amnesty International performance in 1991) (Wallis pretended to explode at the end of the performance.)
Richard "Ric" Shrimpton (1982-1999) Allegedly sold his dialysis machine for drugs, presumed dead
Mick Fleetwood (2000) The only one to survive unscathed.
Scott "Skippy" Scuffleton (2001-2007) Fate unknown.
Plus 14 other drummers at various times all of whom are dead.
Ric Shrimpton makes me laugh the most.
