Mayhem is a Black Metal band, not Death. "Dawn of the Black Hearts" is a live bootleg, not an official release. As far as I know there was one murder and one suicide that involved the band. It seems like Mayhem are singled out because they are a part of the Black Metal Inner Circle. They are certainly far from the only band with murder and suicide in their history. Cobain blew his brains out just 3 years later (3 days short), why doesn't he get the same status as Dead?

Unfortunately some of the coolest sounding rock star deaths are just urban legends, the whole Mama Cass choking to death on a ham sandwich thing is total bullsh*t.
So is the one about Keith Relf getting electrocuted to death being the result of playing an amped guitar in the bathtub. Tis a shame, I really loved that one. |

Cass Elliot died of a heart attack. They found a partially eaten sandwich in the room where she died and it was thought that she may have choked on it but that's not what killed her. She was lucky, she died in her sleep.
With that said, I'd have to go with Kurt Cobain.

And Cobain was about one of a million people to blow his head off. I think the unique think about Kurt was his suicide note didn't really say much about him being depressed with life, just the small Neil Young quote: "It's better to burn out than fade away."

Kurt Cobain would come up at some point. Funny Keef apparently said he was a pissy rich kid. Elvis point is funny. A comic here in the UK said "why if he is still alive would he fake his death having a **** of all things." Can I broaden it to include best walk away from fame too? Like Syd Barret? Went home at their height and never returned. Or retirement from fame. Best withdrawl from stardom aswell. I can't believe they don't search for guns at concerts in the States. Refering to Dimebag. |
