Look, never having been insanely rich, and being something of a small time hermit, I honestly haven't been to too many shows - sometyhing about crowds, ya know? Despite my over 1000 CDs, my attendance at rock shows has been appallingly minimal...

But I will say every show I've been to has been highly enjoyable!

They have included...

R.E.M
The Church
Neil Finn / Tim Finn
Augie March
Midnight Oil
The Whitlams
Radiohead

I saw the Raconteurs in summer 2006 on some festival, and I was so looking forward to it, and they sucked. Don't know, maybe it was just me

Manu Chao played there too, agree with you

damn, I want to see Pj Harvey!

scottsy 02-03-2009 08:35 PM

I am aching to see the Church again... hope they are eventually going to tour stateside again...

I saw Manu Chao at a festival a couple of years ago, he's the ultimate festival act :D him and his band created such a great party atmosphere and went down a storm even though 95% of the crowd that saw him (including myself) hadn't a clue who he was.

Man PJ Harvey is good live, i saw her over 5 years ago and she played a lot of her classic material.

XMyHeresyX 02-04-2009 05:41 AM

Metallica x2
Testament
Black Label Society
Down
Lamb Of God
Ozzy Osbourne
Tenacious D
HIM
Anathema
Trivium
Cancer Bats
Judas Priest
Megadeth
Jimmy Eat World
Bon Jovi
Linkin Park
Nickleback
Staind
Smashing Pumpkins
QOTSA
Alkaline Trio
In Flames

Thats all I can think of at the top of my head, there are more though.

It's hard to say which was the best, probably Down, BLS or Inflames. At Down we met Pepper Keenan, he was so sound! Trivium was surprisingly good too, but I made the mistake of wearing a corset that opened at the back, so was standing topless for alot of it. At the barrier when Matt Heafy jumped down, he just winked at me.

I was totally let down with the Pumpkins, they put NO soul in to it. You could tell a mile off they didn't want to be there. (Last time they played in Ireland some woman died in the Pitt, so they were banned playing here for 10 years or something. )

In 2007 I finally saw them too at a festival, and they were the last band to play on the big stage with tv broadcasting.
yeah well, but everybody seemed to have come for the second last band, so while the Smashing Pumpkins were playing, there were huge amounts of people leaving the crowd.. that was awkward and probably really strange for SP themselves, but with tv broadcasting they still had to put on a good show.
and I enjoyed the space to dance :D

you can see at the very beginning (0:08-0:13), there's a lot of space between different people, maybe it doesn't look that bad, but if you compare how fucking crowded it had been before.. well

ProgProfessor 02-04-2009 12:20 PM

No they weren't banned, they played the Olympia in 2000 before they split. But yeah the RDS show was a bit of a dissapointment, they were just going through the motions and Billy was up his own arse

abiix 02-05-2009 08:56 AM

Seen far too many, my 5 best though ---

1. Architects. Passion, energy, interaction with the audience etc etc, ****ing brilliant.

2. Gallows. Rawest and grittiest punk rock show I've been to.

3. Atreyu. Amazing live, enough said.

4. Alexisonfire. Don't even need to explain.

5. August Burns Red - same as above!

Would have loved to have seen Genesis live, but I somehow feel that i might have missed that boat, unless they decide to tour at least one more time - I really should have gone out to see them in 2007 when they reformed to tour, but alas, who knows if they shall ever "turn it on again" to use a bad pun.... :-)

Janszoon 02-10-2009 02:08 AM

3 fests, actually, the one at Center Stage is the ProgPowerUSA festival. One more if I can make it to Europe again this year, haven't been to a fest in Europe since I last went to Wacken in 2006.

Will be a bit expensive, but well worth it. Going to a concert is my favourite thing to do for fun.
