Saw Parkway Drive last night. They played with MyChildrenMyBride, Stick to Your Guns, and Comes the Horseman. Overall, a high energy show. Even the opening bands were strong. Stick to Your Guns was probably the low-point of the show, pretty annoying stuff. They can't really make up their mind about what kind of band they want to be. They had good energy and related with the crowd very well. Parkway Drive delivered in full effect. Good Sound, played tight, vocals sounded brutal and clear, and instrumentals were very well mixed. MyChildrenMyBride was the most brutal, although the vocals were somewhat of a let down compared to the album.

p.s. MCMB covered Linkin Park's 'One Step Closer', it was... interesting.?.?.

Default Groove Safari Music Forum

I have seen Scorpions, Van Halen, Dragonforce, Ted Nugent, Def Leppard, Bad Company, Rush, Journey, and Iron Maiden. Van Halen was by far the best.

Went and saw Black Label Society and Sevendust last night. I expected BLS to blow the roof off the house, but I have to say I was dissappointed. There was one high point when they did "In This River". There was a really long piano/guitar intro which was just amazing, and when Zakk sang, to my ears it sounded almost soulful and alot better than I remembered the song from the album. Alot of the reason I didn't enjoy the show as a whole has to do with the fact that even though Zakk Wylde is an amazing guitar (and piano, as it turns out) player, he really had poor audience interaction, except to tell us we should worship Dimebag Darrell and cross himself like 15 times. I just wasn't feeling it.

Sevendust on the other hand, put on a great show as usual. Yes, I have a thing for these guys, and even though admittedly their music is not outstanding or original (and at times outright sucks...stay away from the album "Next"...ew), it still gets me pumped, especially hearing it live. They just come off as really humble people guys (who knows how they really are) and they always make an effort to connect with the audience and make sure people are having a good time. Near the end of their set, Doug Pinnick (of Kings X fame) came on stage and had a moment with the band. He didn't jam with them, but Lajon simply had him on stage, hugged him, and thanked him for being the reason he got into the music business.

All in all, it was a decent show.

Yeah, that's always a bummer. That was my complaint when I saw the Church. They're one of my favorite bands but Steve Kilby's stage presence is really lacking.
