Lollapalooza 2008

Well, I'm planning on going there with my brother and friends. Since it's in Chicago and we live in Tennessee it will be a long ass drive. But to see Radiohead it's gonna be totally worth it.

Heres what they're gonna have.

Lollapalooza 2008 - Friday, August 1

Other than Radiohead (no one else will be performing at the same time, wise decision) we haven't completely decided which shows to go to. Though The Black Keys, The Raconteurs, Explosions in the Sky and Battles are among the ones I want to see.

I would love to see both Wilco and RATM but dammit they're playing at the same time. Tough choice but we're probably gonna go with Rage, because Wilco are doing shows all the time and getting to see Rage these days is just too rare, and I've been wanting to see them live for a long time, so we'll probably end up seeing them.

I think we're gonna skip day 3, mostly just indie crap and Kayne West.

Anyone else going?

Personally id forget about all the other bands and just go see Kayne. Probably the realest musician there.

Basically skipping days 1 and 2 and just going to day 3.

ps. anyone who took this post seriously... well you suck

What a stupid idea. Let's have 5 or 6 bands play at the same time. Only fools would shell out money for such idiocy.

I cant tell if your kidding or not, but thats what a festival is. Not only that but by having many bands playing at once, there will be a band for everybodys tastes always playing.

Well I would hope everyone's tastes are not so narrow that they would only enjoy one band at one certain time. I don't do these kind of festivals because they always match up the best bands against each other. Beside it used to be two stages at the same time...then three. 15 years from now they will have 20 stages at once and when you complain they will say that is how it is. Just because that's the way it is doesn't mean I have to like it. Look at the Pemberton Music Festival, 2 main stages but they hardly overlap each other so you can see all the bands.

Yeah that does piss me off, but it's dumb reason not to go.

But you have to think about it rationally, when you have a LOT of musicians booked and you're expecting a huge turnout, it's better to have different bands playing at the same time, if they didn't they would have to stretch it out for god knows how long and nobody wants that. Not to mention it would mean having to have it all in one place, full of god knows how many people camping out, for 3 days.

Screw that. Not everyone wants to go to Bonaroo.

Well that and the fact that they are too overpriced. Not just the festival itself but any refreshments or food that are being sold. Also if you live far away there's gas, lodging, restaurants... Bottom line is if you're shelling out a lot of money you at least want to see all the bands that you like.

True, I'm from Tennessee and Chicago is a very long drive. Fortunately my brother and friends will have the gas money covered, since they actually have money and I really don't, in fact I'm gonna have to mooch off family members to even get the money for tickets and food.

But it will be worth it for me, I've never been to a good show. I went to a damn Saliva concert, I'm not gonna pass up Radiohead, forget it.

What part of TN? I lived in Nashville for 3 years.

How do you choose between The Black Keys and Gogol Bordello?
