I personally think that most guitarists that everyone talk about today are slightly overrated, some more than others, depending on who you speak of.

As mentioned on an earlier post, I feel that slash is way overrated and Kirk Hammett also.

I know of a guitarist who is surely underated, and is better than Kirk and Slash put together!! And that is ... Paul Gilbert!!! all tjis praise doesnt even do him justice though as he deserves more than praise for what he has accomplished.

Id like ti see Kirk Hammett or Slash complete "Scarified" without missing a note like paul gilbert did on youtube!!!

YouTube - Paul Gilbert - Scarified

I'd like to see Paul Gilbert do it, he clearly makes a mistake at 2:49 geez! It still is pretty amazing though, however like BooBoo said, this was to be objective and to include artist from all genres... he already has fret wankers up there.

regardless of whether he misses a note or not smart guy, he is still way the **** better than slash or kirk hammett, who where just in the right place at the right time and got accepted.

There are so many kids, and i mean random kids, who have been playing guitar in their bedrooms for two years, than kirk hammett.

Oh and BTW, rewatch the video kid, and youll see that that is the way the freaking song goes, it not a mistake "geez".

Why do you feel so inclined to sucking the teats of Hammett and Slash? Slash is pretty much as unimaginative as they come and Hammett really isn't that good (in comparison to other metal guitarists).

finally people who agree with me.

all of my friends think that slash is amazing but he bores me to death

i like giblert. he comes up with some clever stuff, even if i think his tone is very questionable. his singing is pretty bad tho. honestly i can only take so much of his playing because its too smooth for me. i like edge to the rock/metal/shred guitar work i listen to. personally i just dont hear any edge in his playing, mostly because he's not pushing his technical ability because he doesnt have to.

If you thoroughly read my post above, you will see that I am not at ALL "sucking the teats of slash or Kirk Hammett. IM SAYING THEY SUCK!!! I said Paul Gilbert was better than both of them combined.

Finish reading a post before you make comments like that.

You could compare him to some creative guitarists. I mean, I think I personally have more of a taste for music than the auditory enema Slash manages to produce every few years.

Paul Gilbert is good, but he doesn't really force much emotion into his songwriting. And his voice scurrs me.
