your best bet is probably getting guitar magazine's and attempting to transpose the staff above the tablature.

I agree, try to transpose. I've seen cool stuff like that before with some Children of Bodom songs so i say go for it.

If you go to Composer Anton Patzner's myspace. He has free sheet music from a movie he composed from called Rose.

Theres Apocalyptica, their a thrash/neo classical metal band which uses cellos and violins in all their songs. There is also rammstein, but they just use violins occasionaly and you can't usually hear it at all.

Tantric too...
Apocalyptica doesnt have violins in it... but you can convert cello music into violin music...

you can also convert bass parts for a violin...

i have electric violin :]

Oh, And one more thing. Saturnus is a doom metal band, and has this song. This is not exactly metal, but violin parts are awesome.

Does anyone know where i could find free metal sheet music for violin? or any violin metal sheet music in general.

Hi, Jio_Fleed_on_The_Roof,
I just listened to Judgement Day, as suggested by one of the other people in this thread, and felt the violin player actually sounded very classical throughout almost the whole piece, using traditional vibrato, chords, etc. The song I heard reminded me of one of my favorite Suzuki method violin pieces I played as a child ("La Folia"), which I always loved because it has anger and intensity that well up as the piece progresses. Have you considered just taking some existing classical pieces that have this sound and modifying them to create the song you want?

Judgement Day has sheet music with their new record

There's Judgement Day. They are a violin, cello and drums instrumental metal band from San Francisco and their new record comes with sheet music for one of the songs. Check them out at stringmetal.com

Heavy Metal Violin

Can a 4-string violin be used to chug low-down and heavy thrash metal riffs?

What do you think?

Hi everyone, I did a little experiment. hahaha.

Check out a little video I made on Youtube:

You can find my youtube video by typing the keywords: "Thrash Metal Violin" in the search box on youtube.com

Any there any any violinists / bowed-string players who have tried distortion effects?

I'm interested to get in touch because most of the violinists I know play only classical music, and the shops in Singapore that sell distortion pedals usually only cater to guitar players' needs. I need to find a distortion pedal that is modded/tuned for bowed strings. hahaha.

Cheers!

Shawn (from Singapore)
