Why ? Has the Rock/Metal forum suddenly been deleted?

Fair enough. I just wanted to know how you figured out which types of rock were deemed important enough to be given their own forum/sub-forum. If you think about it that way, half of the forums/sub-forums on here aren't necessary.

I take it you haven't heard Young's foray into Black Metal and Agalloch's southern rock stuff...

Wait, I'm confused. I thought you were joking. I hope you are.

Despite any forays that these artists have done ( including Youngs foray into Electronica in the mis 80's), their sounds are typically opposites and they were just an example. We could get many bands and apply a 'six degrees of separation' rule to them all in order to disprove the need for genre tags.

I really dont understand the fuss about the prog forum when a Hardcore/Emo subforum has existed for a long time yet it is accepted that the need for this sub forum is ok. The simple fact is, is that you can differentiate bewteen Rock and Metal and many fans who like classic rock cannot abide the heavier side of music and vise versa, so this is for both posters who dont want to wade through umpteen metal threads.

The new sub-forum is very good to have because I feel the Rock and Metal forum is geared more towards modern rock music. So I asked for a sub-forum devoted to older rock music.

Modern rock related threads do good here, but classic rock and prog threads always bomb, so its better for these threads to have their own space.

Ok I understand now and I'm cool with it, but would it be possible to have a piano rock subforum?

Piano rock, wouldn't that just fall into pop?

Or pop rock.

Nah piano rock's quite an intricate and well developed art form imo.
