I'm disappointed with the satanism so frequent among MB metal fans. Not that I'm into religion or anything, but all this 666 skull & crossbone devil worship business, along with the anger and implied violence, is starting to make me queasy.
Why are metal fans so often taken up with satan worship, pentagrams and general dark imagery? What's wrong with something like: In sum, why has metal been hijacked by the excessively bleak and morbid? Last edited by Rainard Jalen; 04-15-2008 at 12:50 PM. |

I THINK what you mean, maybe, is that in recent times the MOOD of HM has gotten very doomy, gloomy and bishroomie (sorry!) ![]() There are a lot of really good Heavy Metal bands still making "upbeat" music, like Dragonforce, Hammerfall etc, and of course Maiden are still around. I wouldn't say it's ALL dark... And then, if you want the other end of the scale, I know of at least one decent Christian Metal band who kick ass as good as, if not better than, many of the acts around today. Check out Narnia's "Long live the king", and see what I mean! ![]() |

I suppose Black Sabbath were into all that, not massively though. The earliest i can think is Led Zeppelin played backwards
