I think he "quit" before he was actually removed from the band. Slash wanted him out before the first album dropped, so I can't believe he lasted as long as he did.

Ill tell you what though... They put on one hell of a show when I saw them.

Still STP are no slouch act. They put on a hell of a show and they know what people show up to hear. Core still is one of the more solid albums of the 90's and while their later material left more to be desired, they have a pretty decent catalog.
Core is a fantastic album, easily one of my favorites in my collection. I think the time away from STP will help Weiland through this tour and I think it will be a success. I am going to get tickets for sure.

'core' was a crap album. 100% recycled hooks from all the significant albums that released in the 2-3 years prior. it's the reason (and a valid one at that) why most rock fans of the day turned their noses up at the band and why the press wrote them off as generic clones. it's unfortunate that they went that route for their debut though, their 2nd and 3rd discs were pretty decent. everything else went back to crap though.

they'll probably put on a half decent show if you can stomach stadium rock cheese. i wouldn't pay more than $20 to see them though.

Well I suppose it helps that I'm eco-concious, but I rathered enjoyed Core. Riffs aren't songs and sometimes I like to dig myself away from something heavy and get into the popcorn BS thats good for driving down the highway.

I don't think anyones projecting it as a masterpeice that will be played 25 years from now.

well... considering we're closer to that 25 year mark than not, and the reaction i've seen in this thread and others like it on the net. i'd REALLY like to agree with you but i'm hesitant.... but i will say it's great driving music.

Well right, but you're missing the variable that this is a reunion tour. If that is taken out of the equation, who 6 months ago was blathering on about Core?

Lack of originality does not make them bad, or any band bad. Thats just horrible logic.

Scott Weiland is going to be releasing a solo album produced by Steve Albini. Somehow I don't think Albini is going to be able to save it.
