I listen to the music and I am still young. Just remember your parents did the same thing to you so try not to be so sensitive to the music.

Two things to keep in mind: if your son realizes you're trying to wean him off his awful music, he'll close up completely to any suggestions you might have. If you forbid him to listen to certain music based on lyrical content or imagery, he'll get a taste for forbidden fruit and move on to deemedly less appropriate tunes.
My parents made the mistake of trying to cut off my hard rock intake, and I ended up with Carcass and Dead Infection albums in a steady rotation |

You're telling me that bands like Necrophagist, Nile, Dying Fetus are less innovative than, say, Disturbed, Mudvayne, or Slipknot?

Get him to listen to comus, PM me if you want a link to the album, all teens can relate to it, it's angry, yet parents will like it because it's acoustic and early 70's.

wow, thread got a little out of hand. I wasn't asking for parenting tips, just some suggestions of music. I sort of thought this was a music forum.
also, I let him listen to what he wants, I'm mainly trying to find something we can both listen to. I listen to Rilo Kiley, New Pornographers, of Montreal, The Shins... stuff like that. and he doesn't seem to think its very cool. Hell, I don't think its all that cool sometimes either. I understand people have different tastes. I was just looking for new music. and, as for the "with my mom" comment. I don't see how it's any different than "in a van down by the river" |
