I'm surprised Dragonforce doesn't get more hate on this website. Yes, it's true, they use some serious studio magic. It's the reason they don't sound very good live at all...

I for one hate them! (http://www.musicbanter.com/album-rev...ce-2004-a.html)

And if by studio magic you mean speeding up their songs, then yes....

Yes.

Yes we do.

I think Dragonforce is just so much technical that they seem devoid of personality. Their passion seems to be for technical prowess. Thats fine but its polarizing and its going to turn some folks off. It ends up getting an American Idol-like production quality.

I really think their drumming is one of the main turn offs. Apart from the 3/4 time intro to "Cry for Eternity", it may as well be a mechanical drill.

Couldn't they at least very the timbre a bit?

What thats what I mean, I think they want what they are playing/arranging to be heard, and so everything is as pitch perfect as they could make it.

But you end up with most songs sounding almost identical, especially "Body Breakdown" and "The Flame of Youth". They use an almost identical riff and a completely identical beat. Apart from "Where Dragons Rule" and "Trail of Broken Hearts", they never slow down. And when they do, the tune seems laboured and awkward.

You end up knowing what all their songs sound like having listened to three of them.

well, they have a sound. I don't know what to say, I am opinion-neutral on them. I think plenty of metal bands do it better, I think plenty do it worse. It is what it is.

Also, I like how this thread starts with my posts in 2005 when I couldn't have come off like a bigger ****ing ******* if I tried.
