Default The Official Kinks Thread

havent seen a thread devoted to the kinks yet so shnizzle on this. did the whole britpop- sibling rivalry thing 40 years before oasis and with one riff layed the foundations for what was to become heavy metal. great band, second favourite of the 60s. your views?

If anyone is interested, here's a list of Kink album reviews I've done in my time on this forum.

The Kinks (1965) - The Kink Kontroversy

The Kinks (1966) - Face to Face

The Kinks (1967) - Something Else by The Kinks

The Kinks (1968) - The Village Green Preservation Society

The Kinks (1969) - Arthur (Or The Decline and Fall of The British Empire)

I will get round to the first two albums at some point, I'd miss the greatest hits altogether to be honest, these 5 albums are all you need

Pretty much agree with you here. I haven't bothered listening to anything past Arthur yet. The first two albums aren't in the same league as these, but they have their fun, rocking moments.

Kinda Kinks
The Kinks
All Day And All of the Night

The songs LedZepStu listed are my choices as well.
What's your 1st favorite band of the 60's Zep?
Beatles?

EDIT: I'm a friggin' retard!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is probably the most stupid question I could ever ask lol!!!
OMG and I'm going to leave that question for others to view just so they can witness my stupidity today.
LOL!!
This almost makes my hour!

Idk I thought you would classify Led Zeppelin as more of a 70's band since they only had a few years in the 60's.
If you told me your favorite band of the 60's wasn't Led Zeppelin I wouldn't feel as stupid lol.

yep the beatles. and considering zeppelin started in '68 id go with you in classing them as a 70s band.

My father told me that he saw them once in a small club in our hometown. Long, long time ago... It was like "Oh, there's a band playing tonight. Hmmm, we got nothing else to do, so we'll see their show...". I guess admission was free or at least VERY low. So when they went to the bar that night, they found out it were the Kinks. Amazing. I envy him for growing up with this music. I mean I grew up with this music as well, just because of my parents, but I never got the chance to see the Beatles LIVE or to buy a brandnew The WHO LP...
I would have been a George Harrison Groupie, I'm sure...
