Haven't heard a lot of The Kinks, apart from hearing their bigger hits from time to time. But I got Ray's album (Working Man's Café) free in the paper last year.
For some reason I think it's meant to be ****, but I enjoy it. Might get some Kinks soon.

Muswell Hillbillies is one of my favorite albums of all time. Ray Davies is a genius. I think there is no better classic rock drinking music than the music of the Kinks. I also think their songs have more social commentary than the music of The Beatles. Listen to songs like Alcohol 20th century man

I'm really, really into the Arthur album right now. "Every Mother's Son" and "Shangri-La" are probably my favorite songs, I love Ray Davies lyrics. He paints the most precise, intricate pictures without being overly wordy.
I heard that one time they were really p-ssed off on the night of a gig, so they got on stage and played "You Really Got Me" for 45 minutes straight and then walked off the stage. I don't know if there's any truth in it (read it online), but if so, that's awesome. |

Their new album will probably come next year, if we can believe Ray.
They tell us the whole original line-up will return, for the first time since 1969.
