The Kinks are no doubt the most under-rated band of the 60s, possibly of the whole history of popular music. Ray Davies is a tremendously awesome songwriter, and it truly hurts that he hasn't gotten the recognition he deserves.
While the rest of the big bands where writing about acid trips and Hindu scriptures The Kinks wrote about the hardships and inequality of the British society. They are possible the best band in music history. (They share, in my opinion at the moment, the #1 place with The Beatles.) |
