I dont think Nirvana is grunge at all. they didnt fit in with the catergories or most grunge bands at the time, except maybe on Bleach, but that album was made to kind of fit in with the scene anyway (i think). But on everything else, i would catergorize them as pop-punk. yeah, they were a punk band, but i can understand why they got so popular becuase a lot of their later music, especially on nevermind, definately had pop elements to it and was radio-friendly. so, yeah, i would say they were a singles pop band, and an albums punk band. does that make sense?
