I was heavily obsessed with them a couple years ago and then I got into them again 6 months ago and then I just don't listen to them anymore. I have these weird cycles with bands. Anyway I think Nirvana is a great band.

If you had to create an album of Nirvana songs that were overplayed, Grunge mainstays (i.e. pitching them as a wildly different sounding band) what would you put on there? Lets say it should have 8 to 12. (I'm going to put mine in tomorrow [pending i remember])

I don't understand what you're asking.

Jesus, if anything should be written on my tombstone its this.

"no one ever knew what he meant"

In a different world I'd hold people at gun point and ask what they didn't understand. Sorry, it just drives me nuts when I can read something just fine and no one else can. I'll try this one again...

Nirvana sounds like the most boring **** these days. We've heard the same 7 to 10 songs on Modern Rock Radio for the past 18 years. People forget that they had songs like "Territorial Pissings" and "School" and think its all "in Bloom" and "Dumb."

Nirvana could be pretty raw and interesting if you aren't stuck listening to the Beatles rehash. Not that I don't like those songs, but I really enjoy the other side of Nirvana. My lsit would look like this...

Negative Creep
School
Breed
Territorial Pissings
On a Plane*
Radio Friendly Unit Shifter
Very Ape
Milk It*
Rape Me
Plateu
Where did you sleep last night

*(I know its on the radio but it sucks less than most of their songs)

And what I was trying to do was say this, if you listen to the right songs they could sound like a noise/garage/punk band, make a playlist that displays this.

Blew
About A Girl
Negative Creep
Smells Like Teen Spirit
Come As You Are
On A Plain
Heart-Shaped Box
Rape Me
All Apologies

That's three from each.

You guys are crazy arguing over a dead guy. Music is to subjective of a topic to argue about. No one can say any band is more talented than the next because they play better ''technically'' music is emotional, do you really think kurt thought he was a good guitar player? The genius in a song isn't the gutair riff, it's the songwriting . Thats what kurt did and did extremely well.

I'm a huge Nirvana/Kurt fan. His songs inspire me, in a weird sort of way.. I'm not sure what it is about them, because its not like Nirvana's songs' subjects are always completely unique, but when I hear them they really make me think, 'What was Kurt thinking about/feeling at the time when he wrote this?' The emotion of his songs are pretty clear, but like most artists, theres the clear, expressed concept and then many underlying ideas and feelings that may or may not be noticed. Depends on how you listen to them. The problem with a lot of the mainstream Nirvana is that while it is still Nirvana, and they are still Kurt's songs, a lot of them lack some of that originality and raw emotion that Nirvana started out with... At least that's how I hear them..
