I mean, if you look at In Utero, it's, more or less, showing us how much Kurt loathed the fact that he'd turned into an icon (The dead china babies on the back cover say it all, in comparison to Nevermind with a Baby swimming in the pool). Speaks Volumes. Anyway, off topic.

Mmm I think I didn't phrase myself right on my last post. I don't mind different Genres ... I just meant that song alone, it seemed such a sad ending. If any one’s heard Andrew Birds album, you'll see what I mean by different genres. Urgh, I've phrased myself totally wrong, NOT different genres in albums. *Shrugs* perhaps it's the lack of sleep.
....so what DID you mean in that last post?

If Kurt didn't want to be famous, why did he work so hard trying to achieve it?

Why would he phone up MTV and complain they weren't playing his videos enough, if he didnt like being in the spotlight?

If not for his suicide, would the mythic proportions Kurt has grown to even exist? would he be any more important than any other early 90's grunger such as Billy Corgan?

If Kurt hadn't killed himself at the hieght of his fame, and rather, drifted away and died like Layne Staley many years past all the hoopla, would anyone look at him as some kind of icon?

Yes. It's well documented that Kurt had his managers complain to MTV that they werent playing his videos enough. They've all admitted this. Read 'Heavier Than Heaven' and one of Kurt's managers confirms that Cobain would complain about MTV not playing Nirvana enough.

sure contradicts this image of not wanting to be famous, huh?

I meant a link or a direct quote or something of that nature, I could say Kurt Cobain was murdered by Dave Grohl then name a book that may not have even said it. Would that make me right?

I think he both embraced it and despised it at the same time.

He liked the concept of being popular, or at least reaching out to the kind of people he related with, but he didnt like the concept of people either blowing his music out of proportion or misinterpreting it, he also had a strange problem with certain people who called themselves fans, like bigots, bullys, racists and homophobes, which inspired In Bloom.

One thing you should know right off the bat is that one of the primary reasons he killed himself in the first place was because of how he was looked upon in the media and how he fealt that his life was worthless after it had become completely public.

Yes a lot of people overrate Nirvana, but thats their problem, not Cobains...Yets it a national past time to blame Cobain for everything that his fans and the media say about Nirvana.

I cant stand people who use the following reasons for hating Nirvana.

1. They think Nirvana are overrated...And their definition of overrated is a band thats popular that they dont care for.
2. They dont like SLTS, which automaticaly means the rest of their catalog is shit.
3. They dont understand all the lyrics.
4. Cobain killed himself, and killing yourself is wrong.
5. No fancy guitar solos?...WTF.
6. They killed good rock...Like Poison and Warrant.
7. Cobain said that SLTS was his attempt at a Pixies song, which means that Nirvana were a direct ripoff of Pixies with absolutely no originality whatsoever.
8. They arent technical enough.
9. They werent super versatile, and they were actualy accessible, which we all know is a bad thing.
10. They dont like Cobain as a person.

I just wish these people would be sincere and give their real reason.

11. Hating them makes you look cool.

....as well as the fact that we are discussing a heroin addict. Poking himself with needles played a big part in why he is no longer here. Being on a magazine cover was the least of his problems.

Most rock stars do drugs, and herion is usualy the drug of choice.

I garantee you some of your favorite musicians do drugs...Hell i can name plenty popular musicians who are or were addicts or recovering addicts.

Yet its suddenly bad when Cobain does it.
