Why can't you put Soundgarden and Nirvana in the same subgenre? Why can't you put anyone in Nirvana's subgenre? Perhaps if you could define these genres a little more, you can put them back where they belong, and let punk rock be punk rock.

Oh, and "hair bands" is the name of a fad, not a genre.

^ You have a really good point, but I think it's good to see what other peoples opinions are. But I agree with you.

Kurt Cobain is the God of Grundge, but I think that Dave Grohl is far more talented than he was. I mean, he's was drummer with nirvana, drummer in QOTSA, and lead guitarist/singer in Foo Fighters. PLUS he helps out Tenacious D too. What a great musician...

RIP Kurt...

Yeah, Nirvana were pretty good. Not as good as the legends tend to make out, but they were good nonetheless.

OMG, Kurt Cobain is like... wow! I agree with you 'independant loser kid' but at the end of the day good music is good music no matter what genre it falls in. But there is one thing i don't get about him, nirvana were trying to make a statement yes? and to stand out from the crowd, and then when people liked them and they became famous, kurt killed himself?! I realy don't get this, someone explain please? is it anyone else or just me being stupid?

it's not such a simplistic situation as it's made out to be in that post. He had other parts of his life not connected to the band or with their rising popularity. plus everyone reacts to things differently, you can't possibly try to determine any sort of cause when dealing with suicide (for the sake of this discussion, the possibilty of murder is ruled out). there's way too many factors to be able to give an explanation.
