Nirvana has influenced good and bad bands, thats common knowledge, no need debating it.

I totally love Nirvana.
Don't hold it against little Nirvana bandwagon kids.
At least it's Nirvana shirts and not Fall Out Boy shirts.

Nirvana is a decent enough band, but nothing remarkable, speaking strictly from a musical perspective. Way overrated.

I used to own In Utero & Nevermind ages ago and listened to them extensively back in the early/mid-nineties, but I eventually got tired of them, not to mention every other band that came out sounding the same.

True, they broke up the vacuity of the mid- and late-80s music, but in exchange for what? A different set of lemmings?

And ever since then, what was previously known in the States as "alternative" has baffled me-- whereas "alternative" music in the 80s had a great amount of diversity, now it was all the same sounding crap, the same bloody formula.

While it is true that Nirvana was big back in the day, Nirvana would have probably been more seen as a passing fad today if Cobain had not killed himself. His suicide sealed the deal, making him a rock demi-god when there really wasn't much to show for it except hype.

All the testosterone driven bands of the 90s made me eventually switch off from the radio entirely. It astounds me though that bands like Nickleback can exist-- in the year 2007. Let's move on folks. There's more to music than more testosterone driven drivel-- a little variety would be nice, you know.

I have yet to hear another grunge or post-grunge album that sounds like In Utero.
