Shoegaze (bootleg, house, rock, great songs, cd)

all of these bands have released stuff I've enjoyed...none of them match up to the classics of the genre, but there's plenty good stuff to merit checking some of them out, especially if you're into shoegaze.

Could Mercury Rev be considered shoegaze? I was listening to some of that at my local CD shop and it was in the same vein as some My Bloody Valentine.

i have to agree that asobi seksu are the best current shoegaze... especially live. swirling guitars are great.

also am seeing MBV in June... should be a treat.

Obviously, but a mix cd is more fun to make.

Loveless could potentially turn someone off this style forever, you know. I heard Loveless when I was 15 at a time when I had heard nothing remotely like it, and found it very hard to listen to. I think it can be hard to digest if you're not already a fan of music with noisy guitars. Some songs by bands like Slowdive or the Pale Saints would be more accessible introductions I think.

I may fill it with sublime shoegaze tracks and fire a Whitehouse song in the middle to f'uck her up for life
