I can't even explain in words how their music sounds live and at the volume they play it. It's seriously a trip with no drugs. At the end of the show, they played "Feed Me With Your Kiss" and the bridge turned into a 10 minute wall of noise played as loud as they could possibly play it. I'm not even exaggerating...it was pure noise. It was so disorienting I started to hear things in it that I'm sure weren't there. I'm sure most people wouldn't like that sort of thing...and I'm not sure I want to experience it again just for fear of hearing loss...but it was seriously something amazing.

Hopefully I can, a couple of my mates are going and The Knife, Bjork and tons other great acts are on the bill. I really want to experience the 'holocaust' section for myself. I know what I've read about countless times and heard from the Loom bootleg doesn't do any justice to what it's like being there and experiencing it in person.

ARGH THIS THREAD IS GOLDEN.

I've been trawling through page 1 since early this evening and there's some truly spectacular sounds in here... I'm left horizontal. True Widow, Lilys, Ecstasy of Saint Theresa are excellent shouts.

Thanks all for recommendations!

Oddly enough just can't find myself appreciating MBV. Would still love to see them live, solely from what I've read in here.

from the seldom mentioned, drop nineteens' a pretty rad band. astrobrite's good too, especially crush and the 8 candy ep

Shoegaze appreciation thread.

I've just been listening to a lot of shoegaze bands recently. My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive are the ballz.

There's a great channel on YouTube called rareshoegaze that posts some pretty awesome stuff. I'm really into Vow of Silence by Small World Experience.

I'm so bored of shoegaze these days, I feel as a genre it should just die already. It reminds me of what happened with post-rock a few years back. NO ONE CARES IF YOU HAVE AN OFFSET FENDER AND CAN REVERBERATE INTO FUCKING SPACE YOU FUCKING CUNTS. This is coming from someone who used to listen to a lot of shoegaze oriented bands, and I actually helped put together shoegaze comps with members on this very board.
