Aw damn...how can I forget Souvlaki? I'd say Loveless and Souvlaki are the two must listen shoegaze albums.

Yeah agreed, I'd put Beat and Nowhere in that bracket too, incredible albums.

I call this "twee shoegaze". Very catchy.

A Sunny Day in Glasgow - Scribble Mural Comic Journal
Definitely rewarding with repeated listens. Probably the pinnacle in what I was saying about a buried melody that you have to search for.

That should get you started...
HEY NOW! I've been blabbing on about all of those bands (well, maybe Medicine was mentioned on here by someone else, but still).

Very true! I loved that when it came out, but subsequently never heard anything by (or of) the band again. What became of them, do you know?

Nothing, as far as I know, there were rumours of an album, but that's seemingly failed to materialize. Shame, they play the type of hazy, lo-fi shoegaze that really grabs me. Their songs just seem to hover, strongly recommended for anybody that hasn't heard it.

They were touring as recently as this time last year but they don't seem really doing much at the moment, and their myspace hasn't been updated much in the past 2 years.

I'd really love to hear a full-length album from them though, I say it would be mind-blowing, I'll keep my fingers crossed in the meantime.

I didn't know they'd been touring, there's hope yet!

Speaking of new albums, when the hell are the new Bethany Curve and Airiel albums going to be released? The new Bethany Curve album Murder has been "coming soon" since the start of the year. It was supposed to be released in May or something. Their website has been like this for quite a number of months now: Bethany Curve - Murder, the 6th record coming soon...

The new Airiel album, or EP or something, was also supposed to be released at the start of the summer and since then the band have seemingly vanished into thin air. They did release a short sneak preview though.
