I've been mentioning these guys a ton this past week, but since I tend to try to get everyone to listen to albums I find amazing I'm going to keep doing it. Out of nowhere Bethany Curve have taken a spot in my top 3 shoegaze bands. Check it out:

I really can't stop listening to this one:

The Ceremony, is a US band formed around Paul Baker and John Fedowitz. With Oliver Ackermann (A Place To Bury Strangers) they where the Skywave. Rocket Fire is their first consistent album.

^ Nice, i haven't got around to Ceremony yet but they're on my wishlist.

Skywave are amazing though. I only have Synthstatic though and it's a really incredible album, they're just as intense as A Place To Bury Strangers but seem to have a greater sense of melody underneath.

Earlier today I was listening to Heroes by David Bowie and figured it sounded a bit shoegazey. This got me thinking what other examples of early shoegaze tracks can you think of?

This may seem a bit ridiculous but I am one-hundred percent serious: is it pronounced "shoo-gaze" or "show-gaze" or neither?

I think Wire's 'Map Ref 41°N 93°W' is kinda shoegazey, it certainly has some cool trippy guitar effects. MBV covered it as well.

Sonic Youth's 'Beauty Lies in the Eye' as well, I think that's quite shoegazey. They're not often thought of as shoegaze but they're definitely an influence on the genre. This song below was released in 1987 (i think it was).

older bands like The Byrds and the 13th Floor Elevators have some stuff that's quite reminiscent as well.
