I'm not a fan of shitgaze no, but I am into bands influenced by shoegaze and dream pop, and they do a wonderful job of combining the two genres (Pia Fraus, Beach House, Mazarin). I'd write down more examples, but I'm too worried about my various sausages and cheeses right now.

give me more!

... i need more shoegaze. any good recommendations are appreciated.

Right now I can only think of Astrobrite, "Crush" should be a good place to start.

And I might just take you up on that shoegaze dub band offer, instead of getting that equalizer pedal tommorrow I'll go out and get a good mic or maybe a good recording device with a built in mic.

Is their such a thing as Shoegaze mixed with Post-Rock? The very thought of that is interesting.

try The Telescopes. one of the most underrated groups in shoegaze. Trademark of Quality and Taste saw them rawer than their self-titled -- all three are worth checking out. check it.

7% Solution are easily the most impressive dream/shoegaze band I've heard.

That's really the first song on the album, so it's more of an introduction. An incredible one at that. 'All About Satellites and Spaceships' is one of the greatest albums of the shoegaze genre.

I've been getting into Lush lately, Haha I nearly **** myself when I saw "De-Luxe" in Rockband. I'd recommend "Spooky" for those who are new to Miki and her short skirts.

The first Whipping Boy album Submarine from '92 has been a recent find of mine via the comp in the beginners thread. Only their first album is Shoegaze influenced but it's solid enough.

In other news today, Pitchfork have just creamed all over Galaxie 500's reissues :)

Here's the review:

Pitchfork: Album Reviews: Galaxie 500: Today / On Fire / This Is Our Music

They gave On Fire a perfect 10.0, is there any argument there? Well maybe just a tiny little bit. They certainty did the album justice: "It feels immersive, the rock album as ambient record, and it's the definitive slowcore statement". This definitely sums up this incredible album, it's an album that you can really loose yourself in and find yourself in places you never thought you would find. I only got this album, and their others, just over a month ago and it was probably my best find in the last few years. The second time i listened to On Fire was on a train journey to Dublin, staring out the window of the train at the frost-covered countryside and really taking in the album. It was such an amazing experience and it's stuck with me every time i listen to it.

I'm not too sure about ranking 'This Is Our Music' behind 'Today', i would have it the other way around. Even though Today is a fantastic album the other two just feel that little bit stronger.

Overall not a bad review, hopefully it will pull in the amount of fans that this band really deserve.

Psshhh... ****ing pitchfork and their hippness. Hey man, they gave the "Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space" reissue a 10/10 only because it is a classic. If you've looked at their other reviews on Spiritualized albums you'll see how they bitch and moan about how they've heard all this 60's **** before. I ****ing wanted to bitch slap the dumb mother****ers... I'm sick of them changing up their opinions about bands all the time despite how good the material is.
