Yeah, I didn't get it until I read somewhere that it was named that because a lot of the bands used to gaze at their shoes in live shows....

I always thought it had something to do with shoe polish , because the music sounds so smooth . Yeh it didn’t really make much sense to me either but that was all I could figure out from the name until I read what it really meant.

Yeh it smooths out your shoes and makes them shiny, so I guess that kinda fits in with the music in a way...........shut up I didnt know.

I've always thought of shoegaze as chaotic but, at the same time beautiful and somewhat peaceful.

right on. Shoegaze can come across as loud and distorted but make me feel all warm and peaceful inside.

To me, shoegaze is like big layered delicious cake for my ears.

Delicious metaphor... couldn't have come up with a better one myself.

Swervedriver are the best band that falls into this category of music. Raise and Mezcal Head are great albums. Thankyou.

Referring back to metaphor I used for shoegaze. Each artist is like the cook. And they all make different flavors of cakes. And of course not everybody is going to like the same flavors. Some like chocolate more than vanilla. Some even like strawberry!
