Nadja did an amazing cover of Only Shallow on their new disc, I highly recommend that to any MBV/Nadja/goodmusic fans :)

I just re discovered Ride, that's some good **** right there. But I only have Nowhere, did they release anything else as good?

Nowhere is probably their best work although Going Blank Again is worthy of a listen. Maybe check out the Female fronted band Lush too who were around at the same time. Damn good band.

does anyone know of/like Auburn Lull? A really pastoral, autumny band that I'm really diggin as I write this. It's very drony and mellow and relaxing, beautiful stuff.

Got an up? Sounds like my sort of thing

Really impressed by the selection above. Thanks for the crash course in shoegazing! I feel really behind, though, in terms of the immersion in the genre that seems to be present here. Is shoegaze a "niche genre", or will it come to mainstream prominence some time soon? Would this prospect be desirable?

Glad you liked the compilation. Shoegaze was quite big late 80's/early 90's especially in the U.K and there does seem to be a renaissance ATM with Autolux, Alcest and Nanocycle making waves. I am personally not bothered in the slightest if it stays a niche genre. That's the way I like it sometimes!

to be honest, I did not get much into shoegaze, except for my bloody valentine and slowdive. souvlaki and loveless are classics.

Has anyone checked out the Lost In Translation soundtrack? It's a pretty good soundtrack with some solo stuff by Kevin Shields.
