Default Dead to Fall - Are You Serious?

Up until a few weeks ago, I had assumed these guys were no longer around. They just hadn't released anything in awhile, and I hadn't heard any news saying otherwise.

Thankfully, I was wrong. Their new album, Are You Serious?, is due out February 19. It leaked yesterday, and I must say, I'm digging it so far (I'm on track four of eleven).

I'm not going to go into huge detail; those of you who have followed DtF know their sound. They pretty much stick to it on this album; don't expect a lot of breakdowns; this is mostly faster, riff-based metalcore.

The one thing that makes this album awesome are the lyrics. Songs like "Major Rager" and "Stupid?" see DtF making fun of themselves and the whole metal scene. I found myself laughing at some of the lyrics, not because they were cheesy, but because they were dead-on. It's not all fun and games, though; there are still some serious songs.

Anyway, this should be a decent release from one of the veterans of the genre.

ps: "Major Rager" is up on their MySpace; go listen to it.

"This party is outta ****ing control
My mom is gonna kill me when she gets home
Are you serious?"
