Default Help broadening rock taste

Im currently trying to broaden my taste in rock/metal i get rather nitpicky about frontmen with the voice thats high and squeeky like the acadamy is.. I like stuff with catchy guitar riffs and a good solo every now and again. Some help would be greatly appreciated

Favorites from my music collection:
AC/DC
Beatles
Black Sabbath
Boston
Buffalo Springfield
Def Leppard
Guns N' Roses
Iron Maiden
Jimmy Hendrix
Kansas
Kiss
Led Zeppelin
Metallica
Ozzy Osbourne
PInk Floyd
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Santana
Van Halen

Things I've broadened too so far:
My finds:
Foo fighters
Motley Crue
Z-Z top
Suggestions by you all:
Thin Lizzy
Some of the Whitesnake
The Kinks

Barclay James Harvest.
Thin Lizzy.
Whitesnake (pre 84 is great bluesy rock).

Mainstream band's but it's a beginning. Most people will now start posting obscure bands for you to look cool but as your tastes are fairly orthodox, I think a slow transition is the best scenario.

Edit: re-reads.... damn i need to pay more attention in grammar class.....

I think in a lot of cases it's easy just to take the next logical step.

For example

For Jimi Hendrix the next logical step would be Funkadelic
For Kiss it would be The New York Dolls
For Black Sabbath ... Hawkwind
Iron Maiden ... Judas Priest
Pink Floyd ... Can
AC/DC ... The Cult
Guns n Roses ... Hanoi Rocks
Beatles ... Kinks / Rolling Stones / The Who

Well none of those bands I listed rip off any of the others.

The reason I listed the ones that I did was because they have some traits are the same yet they do things with them in a totally different way.

Yes would probably top the accesible prog bands list. And with King Crimson you should probably start with Red or Lark Tongues in Aspic.
