That goes without saying. I make sounds in my sleep better than tool.

I like both equally. The self titled has a more jazzy (as you mentioned) and yet slightly harder to get into sound while I find I can throw in Formless and listen to it just about any time.

As for recommendations, Earshot sound sort of like a cross between Tool and something with more radio friendly structures. Sort of like a watered down Tool. I'd also say Miocene has a bit of a Tool sound although often a bit nu-metal in spots. Either way, they should have a little bit of appeal if you're into that sort of thing.
