There are some essential suggestions in Wayfarer's list, (imo of course) these being a few of them:

Quote:
"Unknown Pleasures" by Joy Division
"Loveless" by My Bloody Valentine
"Spiderland" by Slint
"Daydream Nation" by Sonic Youth
"Marquee Moon" by Television
"Disintegration" by The Cure
The funny thing is, Slint are reputed to be one of the biggest post-rock influences along with Talk Talk, but that album is definitely (disturbing, creepy) rock. Likewise MBV were the defining band in the shoegaze-era, yet were more influenced by Sonic Youth than any dream-pop or ambient band. There's no way at least one of Joy Division's albums can't be included in the list and I reckon a Wire album should be in there too.

And how about some Sabbath (probably Paranoid)?

Let's not forget Wishbone Ash's Argus.

There's also a huge lack of Jethro Tull, add Aqualung and Thick As A Brick and we might start to have a semi-respectable list.

This is a work in progress with nothing being decided at all yet. Post your top five fave albums and then I will add them.

not my favorite 5, but definitely worthy of a top of all time list:

1. Lykathea Aflame - Elvenefris
2. Cynic - Focus
3. Gorguts - Obscura
4. Death - Individual Thought Patterns
5. In Flames - The Jester Race

Can it get more classic? Probably not.
