i hear that a lot. like people say "this guy was such a legend but he died on stage" its kind of pointless for people to say that because you cant be proven right or wrong (with the exception of live feeds)
anyway...

Li is a great guitarist. he's one of my favorites only because he leaves me with a "ill never be able to do that" sort of vide. his chord progressions are amazing!

1. Among guitarists, Dimebag is highly regarded because of his flawless technique. He was an extremely skilled and versatile guitarist who decided to waste his talent playing in the horrible Pantera

2. Do you even know what a chord progression is? How the hell are minor key chord progressions amazing?

Guthrie Govan is still probably the best guitarist ever. Or John McLaughlin

I have an interesting relationship with Pantera and Dimebag since Pantera got me into metal but I don't much like them anymore.

Dimebag's solos are great, he has some good riffs, but he also has some really crap ones. I don't think Pantera's style is too great... for example, Walk. The 3 note riff is fairly average from the onset but nevertheless, used properly, it could be effective. However, Pantera repeats that one riff throughout the whole song and it becomes pretty boring.

It's mainly Pantera's groove style that pisses me off. After all, I think Phil Anselmo is actually a great vocalist (check out his stuff in Down), and the other two musicians weren't too shabby. It's just the style IMO.

So I'd agree that Dimebag was a good guitarist in a bad band.
