Default Skindred

Just got hold of their latest album ROOTS ROCK RIOT and I have to say I'm disappointed again! Their debut did'nt blow my socks off, but I though I would give them the benefit of the doubt. They have the potential to make some really intense yet groovy music utilising their Reggae and Metal roots (two genres i love), but it just ends up sounding like an average metal core album with some horribly bland melodies thrown in. Although they incorporate Ska, The Flaming Tsunamis still manage to sound original and intense so why can't Skindred? Any other similar bands out there who will get my rocks off more than this average tosh?

Never really liked these guys. Parts of their songs were catchy enough, but they ruined it with the nasally singing and "reggae"

Default Skindred

I'm having trouble deciding if they are metal or raggae

They are classed as Reggae Core. A couple of songs are OK but the Reggae is nowhere near rootsy enough for me and the riffs are so so. I give them a blast now and again although Roots, Rock Steady was a bad album and not a patch on their debut Babylon.

In case anyone wants to hear them. shame about the terrible cliched vid There is a germ of a good band if they dropped the cliches.

Maybe try Toxic Narcotic? They're more punk than metal, but that's how hardcore typically is. Not really comparable to Skindred but there is some metal and some reggae going on.
