Hell fire 'muzyc'. You list 9 songwriters (7 of which i agree with) 2 are Ok, and then you put 'Elton John' at the bottom. But your right there; that's where he likes to be - at someones bottom.
Forgetting the queer stuff i can't believe you putting that slug on your list. Song writer! Your having a laugh. I suppose he's a brilliant pianist as well.
Ps This is not becasue I'm homophobic or i don't like ignorant, repulsive people!

Tyler8Durden, thanks for giving me a good laugh. But before I begin speaking, I suggest you learn how to spell. It'll save your life someday.

Now, let's start with "This is not becasue I'm homophobic or i don't like ignorant, repulsive people!" You do realize that you're placing yourself in our direct line of fire, don't you? It's sort of radiating with irony; so much for music creating a more accepting environment. And while we're on the topic, the word "homophobe" is intended to be insulting, and I hardly doubt someone like you would have half the wit to give reverse psychology a thought.

Also, you don't seem to have any more reason than muzyc does. If you're going to say Elton John sucks, at least say Elton John sucks with a little intelligence. I know the audience would appreciate it, at the least.

As for your well-thought and well-planned arguments, yes, he is a songwriter, and yes, he is a brilliant pianist as well. Your sarcasm does wonders. In case you didn't know, he can also do both at the same time, like a ****ing puppet. It's not safe in the real world to try and insult those that pay for your burial.

Oh, and check your math. "You list 9 songwriters (7 of which i agree with) 2 are Ok, and then you put 'Elton John' at the bottom."

Better luck next time, eh?

dylan, young, cobain, hendrix would all be on my list. adam duritz (counting crows) would definitely be on my list, good songs in terms of lyrics by them, off the top of my head: round here, black and blue. clapton had some amazing lyrics too.

OK OPIUM 7 + 2 + Elton John (1) = 10. We’ll change it eh 6 + 2 + Elton John (1) = 9. Well done. I was obviously confused with what I was replying to. You know; the contrast of good songwriters with bad! I couldn’t comprehend was I was seeing! As for the spelling. I don't need to prove myself with that one. I got a published book that has sold over 8000 copies, so when I feel there's a need to spell everything right I will do it. When I don’t; I won’t! I suppose you go into chat rooms and insult everyone who mis-spells somthing. (whoops I spelt 'something' wrong). Tell me off. You're a brave man.
As for the homophobic part and - intending to be insulting -, you have obviously misunderstood what I was on about. I'm not gonna waste my time explaining it to you.
What was it you said? 'Elton John sucks'. Yeah you got that right. In more ways than one.
I hate to see you cd collection
And with comments like 'It's not safe in the real world to try and insult those that pay for your burial'. Umm - you strange egg. Is that one of you party lines.
Now go and f**koff and follow the masses ... you sheep!

ok, opium and tyler8durden, try to keep the personal attacks to a minimum, better yet, leave them out altogether. this is a discussion about the great lyricists in the industry, so why don't we go back to that. you've both taken shots at eachother, call it even, and get back on topic.

Actually, I'm female.

One last thing, jibber, before we can get back on topic: Tyler8Durden, I don't think you'd really hate to see my CD collection. From what I know, we share a few favorites.

I'd like to add the older Metallica and Manson, along with Tori Amos, to my list.

Not to perpetuate the whole Elton John debate, but Elton John wasn't a lyricist at all. All of his lyrics were written by the other half of his songwriting team: Bernie Taupin. Elton John Simply wrote the piano parts, tickled the Ivories, and sang the lyrics that were written for him.
