Similar Bands to Interpol?

Anyone able to tell me some good bands that are like Interpol, Placebo?

I don't like using last fm similar artists, havn't had great luck in the past with it.

stakeraiser 10-07-2007 10:49 AM

well, Interpol is so influenced by Joy Division that many call them a copy

jackhammer 10-07-2007 11:17 AM

The Editors are more commercial but have elements that you would like.

I love ziggy stardust cover.. real good

right-track 10-07-2007 01:48 PM

Telegram Sam isn't bad either.

I still think Bauhaus are grossly under-rated.

Since Interpol are one of the most unoriginal bands of all time I imagine you can find several you'll like here: http://www.musicbanter.com/punk/1956...on-thread.html

Ya dont have to go out of our way to diss of them. And who said a good band means its origonal. They make there own songs, thats enough for me.

=ladyface= 10-07-2007 03:42 PM

A load of Interpol fans like White Rose Movement, myself included, so if you're not already into them they might be worth a listen.

sleepy jack 10-07-2007 03:51 PM

I wasn't dissing them, them being unoriginal is pretty much fact. I think Evil is a good song, i've never cared for anything else they did.

=ladyface= 10-07-2007 03:53 PM

Yeah, I'd agree that there's nothing original about Interpol.

I'll pay more attention to them when they release something that approaches the greatness of Unknown Pleasures.

Wow, glad to hear that you like them.

They've only actually got one album at the moment (Kick).

Why is it just because Ian Curtis offed himself that making a post-punk band is taboo?

Same with grunge too after Cobain killed himself.

sleepy jack 10-07-2007 08:03 PM

Or because Unknown Pleasures is awesome.

Def Leppard and Bon Jovi didn't off themselves, yet its alright to call warrant and winger copies

stakeraiser 10-08-2007 11:07 AM

anyways, early Echo & The Bunnymen is a bit similiar to Interpol

Only 1,000,000 times better

=ladyface= 10-08-2007 11:09 AM

I think I'd agree with that. Even as far as Ocean Rain there's some similarities.

Frewen 10-09-2007 11:30 AM

Cut City are definitely similar to Interpol...

Can't post urls yet but check out their myspace.
