You ever check out those bands? Draconian "Slumber did my Spirit Seal" and "Morningstar" I recommend the most.
I meant to check back for these bands. I will check them all out this week. I am listening to a band called Dreadful Shadows from the early 90's. Not especially heavy but I like it a lot.

Go to purevolume.com, you'll find some Metal bands there, depending on your taste in music and if you like the more mainstream Metal bands or not.

Hmmm, I've never been that big on goth metal and I've heard neither of those bands, so I can't help out too much there. I know you didn't want a blind genre recommendation, but I do like Lacrimas Profundere.

I would get their album La Naissance d'Un Reve. The amusing thing is that they're a German band with a Latin band name on a Swiss label releasing an album with a French name.
