I've said before in this thread and I'll say it again, I wouldn't consider their fifth album to be early work at all.

RHCP is a band of great musicians writing boring music. John and Flea are both amazing musicians and showmen. I've tried, but they just don't do much for me. The occasional song is good, and they're a cut above mediocre.

Can't say I much care for them anymore. They don't seem to have the replay value they used to.

I actually feel sick when I try and listen to By The Way anymore.

I may have a problem.

I have to admit to liking Stadium Arcadium when it first came out and played it quite a lot but I recently played it after about a year away and It bored me senseless. I used to really like them in the late 80's/early 90's but I barely listen to them at all now. Always thought Mothers Milk had a few duff moments and as for BSSM I never really dug that full even on release. Always thought it was far too long.

I dug Freaky Styley out a while back and enjoyed the old school sound though.

This. BSSM sounds like two completely unrelated EPs forcefully smashed together to make an album.

I agree. And one of the EPs sucks.
