i thought 'hump the bump' was the only thing that sounded REMOTELY old school on stadium arcadium. it was dirty, it was funky and a slightly sped up version could have easily fit between any two tracks on any pre-BSSM album.

I think I must have been tuned out that year ... Last album I remember was By The Way, which had a good sound and feel but didn't (for me) hold up to close examination ... I mainly remember wishing that such a talented and prominent band would use their considerable powers for more than fluff ... but in retrospect (and I no longer have the album, or Californication about which I felt much the same way) I'd have to call it quality fluff and I would give it another listen if it fell into my lap

What do we make of John Frusciante's solo records? Occasionally interesting? Intermittent genius? Brilliant? Crap?

I kinda like Dali California but eh... Every other single from that album is either dull or awful.

I love Californication and By The Way was pretty good, but the formula is wearing thin, it's time for them to do something else, weither that's returning to their funk roots or doing something completely different altogether.

I would welcome a return to their punk roots too. I'm tired of all of the long, complex, ballad-like crap songs. It would be awesome if they released an album full of three minute long tracks--quick and dirty--but we know that dream ain't happening...

Or instead of dwelling on the past, do something different. I want them to do something like the stuff Flea and Froosh did with TMV.

Break those commercial shackles guys and go prog.

i'd much rather see them follow in the lines of that trumpet / bass clip that's been floating around youtube for a while.

now that the chilis are on hiatus i REALLY hope flea finally gets around to making that solo disc he's been hinting about for years. the one where he doesn't plan on playing a single note on the bass...

THAT would be awesome.

This needs to happen. Now.

EDIT: maybe Anthony Keinis would butcher it live.

...oh wait.
TMV are a popular band, I wouldn't call them a commercial band.

Anything but.

they're a very good band, and Flea on bass is like.. if michael jackson came back from the dead.
its magical.
and now the drummer is the drummer for chickenfoot. which, all of those guys individually are good, but put them together and they make the most annoying band on earth.
my opinion,
