Iv have constantly stuck up for Californication, By The Way, and BSSM in this thread. The problem is whenever ever you do, 10 people reply "no they suck stupid" with no explanation or anything.

that's because any time one of us old fans doesn't call one of those albums the greatest thing ever we usually get 100 fans replying with 'no, your stupid' with no explanation or anything

i like to think my reasons for why i don't like californication (in that thread) are clear enough that even the most biased fan can agree to disagree with my points.

I agree with that, it does work both ways. I am more referring to the 15 posts newbies who are on a mission. I once got a pm with said just that, "You Stupid, its good." Although there was no punctuation

Btw I checked out your new stuff on the myspace. Good Stuff I enjoyed it.

The worst of all posters is the ninja.

You know what those are.

You make a long, well written post arguing a certain point. And then out of goddamn nowhere comes some guy you have never seen before. Usually whatever he says is some unprovoked insult in 10 words or less.

"You're an idiot"

And then he's GONE, never to be seen until his next attack, as he will sabotage you time and time again, but as he disappears in a flash, it leaves you defenseless.

I f*cking hate forum ninjas.

Boo Boo, I'm not pretending. I just don't like it the way you do. Keep in mind I initially formulated this opinion when BSSM was brand new and Mother's Milk was in fact their most popular album. My opinion isn't a reaction to the album's popularity, it's a reaction to a change in musical direction that didn't work for me.

Ok ok I wasn't really talking about you. You grew up with the band from the start so I know what you mean.

I'm just talking about certain people in general who always have the dismiss the most popular album from a band just because it's the most popular album.

Just picked up Californication and Snow ((Hey Oh)).

I remember watching the video to Californicatoin and Otherside when I was like 5 years old lol, I love that album.

And Snow has one of the best guitar melodies I've ever heard!

If you haven't heard the first few albums then they should definatly be checked out, the self titled debut album has a groundbreaking funky crossover sound that was pretty unique at the time, Freaky Styley folowed the same style but with a fuller more evolved sound, tracks like Hollywood and If you want me to stay are supurb. With The Uplift Mofo Party Plan they started to define the sound of the Chili Peppers that people recognise from the later albums check out the classic Fight like a brave along with Me & my friends, Backwoods and Behind the sun. In 1988 they released The abbey road E.P. which had Fire the great Jimi Hendrix cover, and cemented he "Socks on C**ks" image

An Iconic Cover
Mothers Milk IMO is where the Chili's really came into their own with the additions of Chad Smith and John Frusciante with his amazing guitar playing and song writing talents, but unfortunatly this came due to the sad loss of Hillel Slovak.
Most poeple seem to know the Chili's from the Blood,Sugar,Sex,Magic album and i feel that you can miss a lot if you dont kow the early music.
