i'm pretty much in the same boat. californication was the last disc i bought and it disappointed me. i haven't heard anything since that really made me want to get back into them.

freaky styley will always be my disc of choice when it comes to the chili peppers.

Some of the tracks on Freaky Styley are brilliant but i feel that it is let down a little by it's production which is slightly flat. A surprise considering George Clinton produced.

They were not one of his main bands at that time, so i dont think he put as much into it as on later records. I forget the major bands he ha produced at that time.

Could have been a lot worse, considering the whole sh*t in a pizza box story with Andy Gill.

I'd say RHCP have evolved like so.

Good funk rock band (83/87) to great funk rock band (89/91) with one of the best albums of the 90s to good alternative metal band (95) to great pop band (99) to good pop band (02) to dried up going to crap pop band (06-present).

My favourite track is actually Show Me Your Soul. I adore that track.
I quite like Throw Away Your Television... funky bassline, cool drumbeat and a weird as hell solo.

I'm a bit ambivalent towards Magic Johnson. The song itself is pretty rubbishy but I love the riff which comes in at about 2:15... it has such a nice fruity sound.

Even their worst songs tend to have a great guitar riff or bassline in there.

Hey everyone is so mean about Stadium Arcadium ok it;s not there best but I feel people need to show it more love and listen to it alot more it has some gems, they are trying out new stuff yeah its alot more calmed down but it still has the chili peppers magic.

Ok so I went on a another huge chili pepper binge this summer . Everyday at work I would listen to the red hot chili pepper library from start to finish. This was every day for 4 weeks I did this. Sometimes I wouldbe stoned but not all the time. After 4 weeks I took a break and listen to them 1 every 5 days.
Frist of all I am still not sick of them.
And after this binge was a born again RHCP fan. and I appericated them in a whole new like. I have to Sir Sexy Pysco is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. It's 8:19 seconds of perfection.
