Flea is the only piece of talent in that band IMO, but somehow when it all comes together its better than the sum of its parts.

Ya, I'll admit he was pretty damn good in that.

He does the lyrics. John writes the music.

No kidding, thats what im saying.

And not to dissagree Way, but at least on there first few records songwriting was entirely up to Keidas. The other band members didn't do anything in that regard. It had slowly changed over time though.

They are amazingly *bland* for such an old band. And boring. Their current music is uninteresting, unremarkable, insipid run-of-the-mill alt rock.
If it would be too much to ask would you mind backing anything here up with...anything?

Absolutely. How the hell am I supposed to back up a subjective opinion?

If there's one thing I will say though, then it's this: the best "refutation" anybody's come up with so far, was that they were revolutionary because they were "white". And that's a pretty lamea$$ refutation. I wish there'd be something at least a little more substantial, if not more entertaining.

I was referring to the bland, insipid part. But fair enough, I didn't make myself clear. As for the revolutionary part, then I don't believe they were the first to create the sound in question. But this was covered earlier in the discussion. The response from my buddy here was that they were the first to do it while being "white". I don't like the answer, but I've spent a few days laughing over it.
