May I ask where the hate for this band comes from? A lot of their music is better than a lot of other hardcore/screamo bands out there.

For the same reasons that Slipknot gains a lot of hate...unwarranted association with a slew of terrible bands (although I've never liked BMtH)

I suppose. But that shouldn't affect how good or bad the music is.

I generally despise most of BMTH's work but I'd say what brings them more hate than your average ****ty deathcore band is how active their singer is (can't remember his name at the moment) on the internet and such. From what I understand, he's played more to the teenybopper crowd as a heartthrob type character more than an extreme musician.

If you enjoy the deathcore sound, I'd recommend War From a Harlot's Mouth or The Contortionist. Both of these bands do deathcore wayyyyy better than BMTH. And you won't be berated for saying you listen to those bands half as much as if you say you listen to BMTH

As I stood up for Coldplay, I'll stand up for BMTH.
Yes, there are a lot of **** metalcore bands out there, however BMTH aren't one of them.

They have a diversity in their music alike no other band in the genre, and say what you want about Oli Sykes as a person and the way he panders to scene kids, but you can't doubt the raw emotion he puts into his vocal work, he's a solid frontman in every aspect.

I feel it's fashionable to hate on Bring Me The Horizon, but there is no reason to neglect this band based on the bias of others.
Listen to their last album, There Is A Hell, Believe Me I've Seen It, There Is A Heaven, Let's Keep It A Secret it's actually really good.

Here's a question for the sheep who follow Pitchfork Media and hipster music sites, if it became the in-thing to hate on your favourite band, would you follow that trend.
Say, if people started to say Captain Beefheart wasn't all that great, would you be inclined to believe it too?
No? Then, apply the same logic here.

I won't agree with you on the sound of BHTM, I find their chug-a-lug guitars and excessive breakdowns to be bland, and their singer to be generic in his rasps and post-hardcore shouts.

However, I DO agree with your assessment of Pitchfork and websites related to them. When douchey-indie elitist websites try and review metal it is truly pitiful.
