Holy Wars - not only the best Megadeth song but one of my favorite songs in general.

Giving THIRTEEN a listen again tonight. I absolutely love it every time. Their most recent releases in the past couple years have been pretty damn good. Endgame could've been better, but not much to complain about. Then United Abominations before that was pretty damn good.

THIRTEEN starts off really well though, and ends really well. Packs a powerful punch full of Thrash.

one of pink floyds pre-fame band names was "the meggadeaths". also dave mustaine said he learned songwriting from listening to cat stevens. also check out dave mustaine destroying on rock and roll jeopardy (even against frank zappas daughter, who doesnt seem to take anything seriously)

I didn't realize Dave Mustaine was so knowledgable about music in general, impressive.

If you think that's impressive, you should see him when the topic is "alcohol".

Or himself. He knows all about how he influenced Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer, and basically created the thrash genre all by himself.

Sidenote: Just by a coincidence, I was listening to "The Conjuring" when I saw this thread. **** yeah, Megadeth!

Here's the new single.

My general take on Megadeth is that Mustaine is still writing thrash for 1983 and this song didn't do much to change my opinion. It's fine.

Hey Big3, thanks for the heads-up about the new single. I like Megadeth a lot, but I'm not so sure about this one. But I also tend to prefer their slower songs like The Scorpion, A tout Le Monde or Foreclosure of a dream.
