True...Marty Friedman was their best guitarist imo.

Everyone still talks about Metallicas latest release whilst Megadeth have made their strongest album in years with Endgame. Blows the arse off Death Magnetic.

I first got into metal properly several years ago (sure I`d grown up listening to stuff by Priest and Maiden and at the time never really liked the stuff but I do now) So I decided to start on more-modern with Metallica and yer I liked them and got into thrash and then the more complex thrash, but despite the excellence of early Metallica albums there was something kind of missing. I then explored Megadeth and found that missing link, their music had an energy and a manic appeal that was missing in Metallica, an appeal that only somebody like Dave Mustaine could provide me, sure the group has released some really bad albums such as Cryptic Writings and Risk but the great stuff far outweighs this. Megadeth gave me just the right amount of heaviness that I needed at the time, to really get me into the genre before I stepped up a gear to Slayer, Pantera and Sepultura etc who are probably now, still my fav metal bands but if I hadn`t listened to Megadeth and fallen in love with them, then maybe the heavier stuff would`ve never appealed to me.

Ya think? A ton of people are talking about Endgame. Obviously, Megadeth will never get the same mainstream press as Metallica, but within the metal community this thing was a huge release. Great album, too.

I still only listen to Rust in Peace.

Mainly because I can't be assed to massively download metal, as the genre hasn't stuck with me that much. But when I do, and I get things like 'Rust in Peace', I'm very pleasantly surprised.

Endgame isn't just one of Megadeth's strongest releases in years, its one of the strongest metal releases in years. Honestly I haven't enjoyed a "new" metal album this much since Tony Iommi's Fused in '05.

It's certainly a damn fine album and as mainstream Metal goes it's certainly one of the best but there has been lots of damn fine metal albums released under the radar over the past few years to compete with it easily.

Oh, yeah...so true...Still I kind of expected End game would be great. Megadeth is on the role last couple of years...Thre were some realy great Rust in peace-like thrash songs...etc Kick the chair...

Anyway...This is my band covering Hangar 18, so take a look if you're interested...

Default Best Megadeth Song

I have been listening to the newer Megadeth album non-stop. Which then brought me to the newest metallica album... which as great as everyone say it to be, I didn't see it that way. ANYWAY, this all leads me to my point I promise (you can you skip to the bottom of this post if you want to spare yourself from my banter). I then proceded to listen to what everyone says 'old metallica' to satisfy myself due to lack of happiness from thier new album. As listened through Master of Puppets... Justice... even Black (I hate being chewed up for liking the black album but it happens everytime) Since I was hitting my Older Roots of metal I went to Megadeth, which isnt to far away in the M's of my itunes, Rust in Piece and realised how fantastic Rust in Peace is... Hanger 18 smacks you in the face to wake you up but my concern is The BEST Megadeth song. I remeber spending Weeks on learning Marty Friedmans solo to the point of throwing picks, shaking my guitar, just going nuts. I must have listended to this song over 100,000 times.
TORNADO OF SOULS!!!!! Number one hands down for me.

That riff in the beginning just gets me going.
Then into the next riff I find my self un controlably(is that even a word?) head banging with a face that i cant make unless im listening to this song.

High energy song with just amazing musicianship.

That solo is epic, i do have a personal attachment to that solo since it was the "step up" solo i learned spending hours and days to figure it out and play it.

SO go ahead agree or disagree but! Tornado of Souls by Megadeth, is the best song by them from me!

The lyrics are atrocious but this is by far my favourite Megadeth track. There is so much going on and it never sounds old.

Rust In Peace is a big fan favourite but I find it far too polished as an album myself.
